Understanding Value Bets
A value bet occurs when your estimate of an outcome's probability is greater than the probability implied by the bookmaker's odds.
For example, if odds of 2.50 imply a 40% chance but you believe the true chance is 45%, the bet may offer value.
Key Terms
- Implied Probability: The probability suggested by the bookmaker's odds.
- Your Probability: Your own estimate of the outcome occurring.
- Edge: The difference between your probability and the bookmaker's implied probability.
- Expected Value (EV): The theoretical long-term profit or loss from taking the bet repeatedly.
